Ghetto fights and merry Christmases...
12.24.2001 - 8:31 PM

ok, so we closed the store today at 6pm, and after cleaning up after all those messy ass customers and putting tags up for the sale on wednesday, i hung out with a couple of people in front of the store for awhile, because it was absolute chaos in the parking lot getting out. so as i'm walking out the front door, we see about 7 or 8 cop cars with sirens blaring and lights flashing making a mad dash to the other side of the mall...

... and once again i am reminded of where i work and how ghetto that town is...

the security gate is halfway down, and we're smoking out in front of the entrance doors, and the store is OBVIOUSLY closed, yet people are trying to walk around us, as we're saying, "the store's closed... the store's closed... sorry, we're closed... the store's closed..."

catch a fucking clue folks, the store is fucking closed. it's YOUR fucking fault you waited until 6:15 on Christmas eve to try and find an xbox or a playstation 2 for your kid... dumbasses...

so anyways, we're just chillin' in front of the store, just shootin' the shit, and about an hour and 15 minutes pass when all of a sudden two ghetto chicks start fighting near one of the parking lot intersections...

... another chick starts yelling for the security guards who were about a good 50 yards away, and Angelo and i are yelling at the security guy too, pointing towards the fight, and he's like all, "huh? duh... what???"

next thing i know, all those cops that were at the other side of the mall are jammin' on over towards our store, and in like a minute there's like hella security guys and hella cops all over the place, and what started out as a fight between two chicks turned out into an all out melee with all their friends getting into it too...

AND THEN... the cops are trying to pull them all apart, and i start to notice that they're slowly drifting towards my truck... and all i start thinking is, "oh fuck, they're gonna fuck up my truck..."

at that point i could care less what happened between those two bitches, just keep them away from my truck.

and then i start thinking to myself, "only in Hayward will people start shit with each other on Christmas fucking eve..."

GHET-TO! ghetto i tell ya!

that shit wouldn't happen where i live, dammit...

-----------------------------------------------------------

damn i ate a lot today... people brought HELLA food, and i found myself in the break room more than i was on the sales floor...

you know you ate a lot when you fall asleep in your chair after eating...

i got so many gifts today, i feel so bad not being able to get gifts for everyone... but i did get something for mom and dad, and something for Angelo's kids.

let's see... what did i get...

- a signed Raiderette calendar, a Raiders greeting card with a team picture on it (VERY hard to get-- it's what the players and faculty give out for the holidays... the only real way to get one is to receive one from a player or someone associated with the team...), and a Starbucks gift card, all from Jessica (my sexy secret santa)
- a cool shirt and hoodie sweatshirt from Larry
- and a phat backpack and gift certificates to TGIFriday's from Ben...

Luis and i got cash from everyone and we went shopping (yeah, i know, i was supposed to be working) for Ben's gift for more than an hour, but we ended up getting him a phat Sean John sweater... (those things are freakin' expensive!) I want it. heh.

-----------------------------------------------------------

so now i'm home, thinking of whether or not i should go to midnight mass, because i don't want to go by myself again. i haven't been to church in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. i really should go. maybe that will help me get back on my feet. it's always good to have something (someone) to turn to when i'm down, and i haven't had that something in a long time.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Please stay safe, take care, and don't forget to say a prayer for all of those who don't have as much...

Much love to you all.
